Broken-but-Strong

This is what Lilly's foot first look like about two minutes after a really bad jump on our trampoline.  She had just returned home from school on a Friday afternoon and headed out to play with her brothers.  She had only been on for less than five minutes when she came down wrong.  You know that scream your child makes when they are REALLY TRULY hurt.  Instantly her foot had a goose egg size welt swelling up.  We weren't sure what she had done and decided to give it some time before running her in to the doctor's office.

By the next morning, it had gotten worse and was really starting to hurt.  We took her in to the local Urgent Care, then in for X-rays.  We found out within hours that she had sprained her foot, Fractured a bone and chipped a tendon.  We headed in to the foot doctor Monday morning for a cast and crutches.

A little treat after getting X-rays

She was learning how to use the crutches.  Within a week she was skipping and almost running with them.  I have to job just to keep up with her when I'm walking in to school from the parking lot.

Mom and Lilly spent the rest of that first Monday having a wonderful lunch date together.  We shared a yummy hot chocolate, bowl of soup and warm muffin on a cold rainy day.

Lilly was invited to head to the "American Girl Doll" store with a few of her best girlfriends from school.  She got all dressed up, carried her American Girl doll on her back and made a great day celebrating her friend's birthday.  The sweet Mom even brought a stroller to push Lilly around in so she didn't tire out with her crutches.

Afterwards, Lilly was showing off the fun things she had picked up at the AMD store.  She made sure she had the cast and crutches to match her.  Too funny.

Mason, Hunter and Kadin have been a HUGE help to their sister since she broke her foot.  Mason was helping her to the truck after school.
