Memorial Day Hike



We got up Memorial Day morning, packed a lunch, grabbed our walking sticks and headed out for a family hike. We headed down the C&O canal and turned up the Maryland Heights trail. Our goal: to make it to the "overlook" which looks out over the sweet little town of Harpers Ferry, WV. It was perfect weather as the trees shaded most of the trail. The Littles had a great time taking turns being in charge of Hobbes and taking the lead. When we reached the top, we sat down for a little lunch, which the Mr. was go good to haul up on his back. From that far up, the town looks like little model of housed, buildings, roads and railroad tracks. There's nothing to keep you, or your Littles, from walking off the edge, so a mom has to keep her eyes on the younger ones. After fueling up on some yummies, we headed back down the trail. We made a fast stop at the truck to unload the extra supplies, and headed into town on foot. We rewarded ourselves with a very needed and deserved giant snow cone and some shade. By now, sun was high in the sky and temps had reached in the low 90's.

We all had so much fun and have decided to make that a regular activity this summer for some exercises. Anyone every want to join us...?
