The kids all did so great with the cold weather and big city ways. We told them this was a trial run to see if we ever dared to take them to NYC.
Any here lies Benjamin Franklin...it too was closed for the day, but we were able to see in through the fence and get a picture or two.
Independence Hall is behind us.
The US Mint and National Constitution Center in the background...
We were super excited to take the kids to see the United States Mint and let them see how and where our money is made. We were disappointed to find it closed as were a few other sites we had planned to visit...Guess that just means we'll have to go back someday again.
We kind of thought it was cold the first day we were there...NOT!!! It dropped like 20 degrees the second day and no sun to be seen anywhere. We at least had the sun the first day to stand in to warm up...We ended up making a run to the local Burlington Coat Factory to get the kids better gloves and myself a warm winter coat. I had only brought a few sweaters thinking that would do...AHHHHH, that was much better. It was FREEZING Monday while we walked around though. By the time we were calling it a day, I think several of us were numb from the knees down as well as our cheeks.

We had so much food everywhere we ate. Both days I downed either a whole FOOT LONG Philly Cheesestake or Chicken Cheesestake sandwich...I'll be hitting the treadmill HARD when I get home!
We took a visit to the house of Betsy Ross. They kids had a great time doing a flag craft, talking to Betsy Ross herself, touring her tiny home, playing in the basement kitchen and learning about the sacrafices made on behalf of the American Flag.
We ran into this building just outside of our hotel room. We all thought it looked like it was straight our of a "Harry Potter" movie...Love the old buildings in this city.
Can you say....FREEZING heated pool...!!! The hot tub was drained, as was the kiddie pool and the sauna doors were bolted shut. It felt like the air conditioner was blowing out at full blast in the pool room...so much for picking this hotel for the warm water to play in after a long day of walking around. The kids were good sports and got in anyway.
Getting back to the hotle after a great day out seeing sights and seeing Philly.

Looks like you made the best of it, even though you were freezing! I would have been so disappointed at no hot tub or sauna and a cold "heated" pool :)
